This large 57cm (22') long Wooden Maori Tiki is a wonderful specimen of New Zealand carving, made in Rotorua, home to Maori whakairo.

The Tiki is made from tulip wood, a sustainably harvested hardwood. Its eyes are made from paua shell, our native abalone, found only in NZ waters.

The Maori Tiki represents the first born human. It can also represent the embryo, as well as connection to ancestors. The tiki is considered to be a symbol of good luck, and of fertility.

The tiki is made to hang on the wall. There is a hole on the back so you can hang it from a screw.
