At the bottom of the keychain is a lovely piece of New Zealand Paua shell. Paua is New Zealand's native abalone shell, with irridescent shades of blue, green, pink and purple.

The paua shell is inlaid into a metal Maori friendship twist, pikorua. The Maori friendship twist portrays two fern shoots growing together, representing the twists and turns of true love or friendship, and the joining for all eternity.

The twist measures approximately 4cm (1 5/8') long.
